CoC: Lars Bystoel Wins In Zakopane

Lars Bystoel won the first of two Continental Cup competitions in Zakopane. Though he was only 5th after the first round, he made up for that small setback with the longest jump in the second (134 m). This allowed him to gain the lead, from which he was not dethroned.

Second place went to another Norwegian, Kim Rene Elverum Sorsell, who had been in the lead after the first round (135 m). The last podium spot was taken by the leader of the CoC overall standings, Stefan Thurnbichler (129 and 127,5 m).

Jan Mazoch, who was back in Zakopane as a jumper for the first time in competition after his infamous tumble on the Wielka Krokiew hill, ended up taking 17th place thanks to jumps to 120 and 122,5 m.

Today's competition brought no major changes in the overall standings of the series. The leader is still Stefan Thurnbichler before Bastian Kaltenboeck. Moving up to third place is Balthasar Schneider. The team ranking is still led strongly by the Austrians, which have accumulated more than twice as many points as the Norwegians in second place.
